MeritPlus STEM learning center is focused on assisting students in their quest for STEM excellence through afterschool coaching classes. The classes are tailored to individual needs of children and are paced per each child's ability to learn. The curriculum is designed to customized and understanding of basic mathematical concepts through lectures followed by cognitive exercises on similar topics. Assessment test is given prior to enrolling a student in our curriculum. An academic road map is created based on the specific needs of the student.
The classes are held 2/3 times a week, and each session is 30-45 minutes duration. During the class, first half of the session focuses on explanation and discussion of the concept, while second half is geared towards hands-on problem solving exercises. Audio-Visual tools are frequently used during the sessions. Home-Work exercises and worksheets are provided for each topic covered during the session. Active participation of students is encouraged during the lectures and problem-solving sessions. Review exam is given after each topic completion to ascertain the level of understanding. Students are also encouraged to demonstrate their topic comprehension by giving lectures in class.
